My dear friend Abi gave me this incredible body scrub for my birthday over the summer and I have fallen for it hard.
She did warn me though…that it was ‘really good’, that I would love the way my skin felt and smelt afterwards.
But the warning wasn’t enough to prepare me for what followed.
After my first bath using this scrub I COULD NOT STOP whiffing my arms. And I mean properly inhaling them. For HOURS. It was embarrassing.
It is so good I suspect that if you buy this for someone, it will be one of the best presents they have ever received.
We might one day read blogs powered by Smell-O-Vision (wouldn’t that be great?) but until such a time I will do my best to describe & Other Stories’ Fig Fiction Bath Scrub’s alluring and most comforting scent.
As one would expect from the name, the overriding smell is of fig. Earthy and with a slight sweetness, though thankfully, nothing too sickly. Then come hints of berries. The Swedish brand say the ingredients also include “exotic pink pepper[…], Brazilian rosewood and dark plum.” Tell me, how good does that sound?!
It is a clean smell, not overpowering and the scent lingers on the skin after use.
The texture of the sugar scrub is reassuringly rich and with a little vigour on your part, will slough away dead skin without abrasiveness.
But the best bit for me is the ‘milk’ that is left at the end. After using it as a scrub the bath water becomes infused with the oils and magical scent, creating a silky oasis of cashmere calm (those are the exact words that just popped into my head when I was thinking about my last bath. True story). It is quite heavenly.
Damn, I feel I may have bigged this one up a bit too much. Ah well, sod it. Everyone deserves a gorgeously scented bath product. I hope you will join me in sharing the love.

THE FACTS
How much is it:
A complete BARGAIN! Just ten of your finest pounds. The only thing which really gives its price point away is the plastic packaging which feels quite functional.
Where can I buy it:
stories.com or in store (Regent Street, London).
Who is it for:
Everyone. I would describe the scent as unisex and think guys would appreciate it too.
How to use it:
In the bath or shower, gently smooth over damp skin and massage gently (or vigorously, depending how you feel!). If in the bath enjoy a 5-10 minute soak post-scrub to prolong the scent on your skin. After use and when drying, either air dry or pat lightly to maintain some of the hydrating oil.
Coming up tomorrow…
Tomorrow I will be sharing one of my all time favourite, must-have makeup items. It is a product which, in my humble opinion, is yet to be rivalled (though there a dime a dozen lesser versions of it out there). Will you be tuning in? I hope so 🙂
xx
A bit more about my Advent Cal:
My advent-themed calendar is designed to give you, lovely reader, some ideas for presents this gifting season. The list is based on my Top 25 Beauty Buys of recent years. Of the 25 products which made the cut, some I have used for the first time this year and others I have been using for several years. The selection criteria for each product was as follows:
1. It is a product I have repurchased or know I will definitely repurchase at some point
2. It is an item I believe will genuinely make an awesome gift for someone this Christmas
This series is not sponsored and you should know that, like many makeup artists, I am one of the fussiest people I know when it comes to selecting and using beauty products. They have to blow me away. Hope you enjoy!
