My all time favourite hair stylist, Sally, (yup, the very same who I followed down to Margate in March of this year) first introduced me to this fabulous styling product.
Having naturally fine hair I have always been hesitant when it comes to styling products, for fear they will make my hair even thinner, but to my surprise this little beauty made my hair look and feel noticeably thicker but without any of the usual down sides (stickiness, heaviness etc).
There are two things which make this volumizing product fantastic:
- It does exactly what it says on the bottle, including the ‘weightless’ bit
- It smells HEAVENLY*
The ingredients list boasts organic aloe and wheat amino acids (no idea) which are supposed to build body and add shine. I cannot really comment on a visible increase in shine necessarily, but it certainly ticks the volumizing box!
I am currently on my third(?) bottle and though I have tried others in the range (Thickening Tonic, which may have since been discontinued and Pure Abundance Style Prep) Volumizing Tonic is the one I keep coming back to.
I would say it is most perfect for those who like the idea of having a bit more volume but for whom high maintenance hair styling is a no go. In fact, it could not be easier to use. Just spray and blast.

THE FACTS
How much is it:
£18.00 for 100ml.
Where can I buy it:
From Aveda directly or John Lewis, Liberty etc.
Who is it for:
Anyone with fine to medium hair.
How to use it:
Having part dried your hair, start spraying the tonic onto the roots, working in random sections and holding the spray about 5inches from your head. Once the tonic is applied you can finish blow drying and styling as desired. On second day hair I use it to give my hair a refresh by spraying it directly onto dry hair and then giving my hair a quick blast of the hair dryer. Works a treat!
Coming up tomorrow…
My favourite eye shadow palette. It’s a stunner and not to be missed.
A bit more about my Advent Cal:
My advent-themed calendar is designed to give you, lovely reader, some ideas for presents this gifting season. The list is based on my Top 25 Beauty Buys of recent years. Of the 25 products which made the cut, some I have used for the first time this year and others I have been using for several years. The selection criteria for each product was as follows:
1. It is a product I have repurchased or know I will definitely repurchase at some point
2. It is an item I believe will genuinely make an awesome gift for someone this Christmas
This series is not sponsored and you should know that, like many makeup artists, I am one of the fussiest people I know when it comes to selecting and using beauty products. They have to blow me away. Hope you enjoy!
